Planned Parenthood Selected as 2025 Access Walk Grantee

In its third year, the Seattle-based nonprofit will award all funds raised from its annual event to support individuals’ access to safe reproductive healthcare services.

SEATTLE, Wash. – Access Walk, a Seattle-based nonprofit that raises funds to support travel-related expenses for individuals forced to go long distances to access reproductive healthcare services, today announced Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawaiʻi, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky (PPGNHAIK) as its 2025 grant recipient. The move reflects Access Walk’s shared mission with PPGNHAIK and its growing national momentum—what began as a small event in Seattle’s Volunteer Park has expanded into a movement with teams across the country.

“It’s fitting to be working alongside PPGNHAIK to further our mission to ensuring every individual – regardless of their financial means or physical location – has the dignity of access to safe abortion services,” said Jeff Pyatt, co-founder of Access Walk. “As we celebrate our nation’s birthday, it is fitting to announce our grantee. They are part of the fabric of freedom – the freedom to choose; the freedom to fight for everyone’s right to make choices that comport with their individual journey and their bodily autonomy. My family, the board and our team could not be prouder of this partnership.”

To date, Access Walk has donated $160,000 to Cedar River Clinics of Washington and Lilith Clinic. This is the first year the event has gone fully virtual, inviting walkers to join the mission to ensure everyone has access to the healthcare services they choose, and the travel expense support they need to seek those services in states like Washington.

“Every attack out of D.C. — from the overturn of Roe to the latest budget scheme that strips vital health care dollars from our states — lands hardest on the people and the communities who are the most vulnerable and already have the least access to care,” said Rebecca Gibron, CEO of PPGNHAIK. “Access Walk is proof that communities will not stand by. Together, we are turning outrage into action, minimizing travel costs and knocking down barriers that keep patients from the care they choose. Nothing — not distance, not dollars, not politicians — will stop us from defending the fundamental freedom to control our own bodies and futures.”

Registration for the 2025 event is open. Access Walk is a 501(c)3 organization, making all contributions tax deductible.

The 2025 Access Walk event is fully virtual with celebrations in every area with a team – from Washington state to Florida and Idaho to Texas. To honor the Seattle roots, the last mile will be walked in Woodinville, Wash., Sunday, Sept. 14. Details and more information on the event can be found on the website. About ACCESS WALK

Access Walk has one goal: To offer financial support to regional organizations that provide access to safe abortion services. Organizations providing this service typically have minimal staffing and financial resources, and face challenges when attempting to raise funds to support individuals’ travel and lodging expenses to access their services. Access Walk’s founders believe finances should not be a barrier to access to safe abortion services. While numbers are still coming in, there is anecdotal evidence that individuals from other states are traveling to Washington state to seek access to abortion services. This puts a strain on state providers as well as has financial impacts for those seeking the services, particularly low-income and underserved populations. Access Walk is a 501(c)3 organization.
